Wheel of the Year

Ceremonies to mark the Wheel of the Year are a beautiful way to track the seasons and our spiritual development.  They form part of my yoga classes: for details see www.sulisconsulting.com

Conscious Uncoupling

Relationship breakups can be very painful and leave lasting scars. Children suffer when two people separate in an acrimonious way. Divorce can end up costing a lot financially and emotionally.

The idea of conscious uncoupling is to create a no blame scenario where a separation can be achieved with understanding, empathy and maturity on both sides. Instead of blaming the other person, each partner takes responsibility and seeks the best possible outcome for both people. A conscious uncoupling ceremony can help that process enormously. In it the separating partners honour and acknowledge all the good things in their union and express gratitude to each other for all that has been provided both emotionally and materially.

They release the ties that bind (a kind of opposite of handfasting) and wish each other well on their own path. They make pledges on behalf of their children if they have any and to treat each other with empathy and respect and accept that they will enter into relationships with others. It is a moment to release the other to their best future and release any hurts or resentments that may be there.

Blessings can be given. Friends and family can support. A conscious uncoupling party can enable everyone to feel uplifted rather than upset by the separation. It can enable children to feel okay about what is happening and move on positively into the new situation.
