Ceremonies for Couples

Handfasting

“Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads, which sew people together through the years.”

– Simone Signoret

This ceremony is becoming popular as many couples wish to celebrate their union with the Celtic tradition of binding wrists.

The four elements of earth, fire, water and air may be invoked. You and your partner choose your own vows to pledge to each other. After the vows, ribbons are wound around your arms and your union is blessed. Readings and further blessings complete the ceremony which usually then leads to a celebratory reception.

“This cord of ribbons symbolizes so much. It is your life, your love and the eternal connection that the two of you have found with one another. The ties of this handfasting are not formed by these ribbons or even by the knots connecting them. They are formed instead by your vows, by your pledge, your souls and your two hearts, now bound together as one.”

The legal aspect of your marriage needs to be handled by a Registrar.

Most couples have a separate ceremony at a registry office before celebrating their union with a handfasting ceremony in front of friends and family. This ceremony is available to couples of any gender. Together we will create the occasion you want.

Vow Renewal

You may want to renew your vows after a challenging time and together  we can create the ceremony that will best fit your wishes. There are no rules. You come up with the event you want and invite all those you would like to witness your pledges to each other moving forward.  Readings, blessings and a handfasting ceremony can all be included.
